About Anita
Born in St. Louis, Anita Rosamond began her musical career in her early teens, playing piano, singing and recording with her older brother's band. She later recorded an album in Nashville with Roy Orbison's backing band. Anita now has five additional recording projects to her credit. Her early 2006 recording, Timeless, established Anita as one of the finest vocalists and entertainers in the Midwest. Anita's critically acclaimed holiday CD, This Is Christmas, was released in November, 2006. And her latest CD, "Keep Liftin' Me Higher" - LIVE!, a tribute to the divas of the 1960's and 70's was recorded at Harrah's.
In 2007, Anita led the way in creating a compilation CD that featured herself and many other talented musicians -- Someone to Watch Over Me: The Backstoppers Project. 100 percent of the proceeds from sale of the recording are donated to the BackStoppers, the non-profit organization that supports the families of police officers, firefighters and emergency service personnel who give their lives in the performance of their duties. With the help of a matching grant from the David Pratt Foundation, the CD has raised more than $30,000 to date for the families of these fallen heroes.
In addition to her many appearances throughout the Midwest, Anita has performed across the U.S. as well as in England and Australia. "My musical background includes many influences," states Anita. "from pop, jazz and R&B to country and gospel music. And I love the opportunity to bring all of those influences together in my own way when I perform by presenting my own interpretations of classic favorites... as well as introducing new songs to my audiences."
For Anita, performing her music is not only a privilege, it's a commitment to her audiences to provide them with great entertainment. "It's my responsibility to entertain an audience to the best of my ability every time I'm on stage," she adds. "If they come out to a concert or any event to see me, they deserve to be entertained. It's so important to me as a performer to give them all I've got to give - every time. And I absolutely LOVE doing that!"
